Brian started his racing in karts and quickly excelled becoming a leading contender in the Skip Barber Formula Ford championship and Formula Ford 2000 series in 1990 and 1991. In 1992 he won the "rookie of the year" title in the Oldsmobile pro series and became a world speed and endurance record holder as a member of the factory Oldsmobile program that set over 50 records. He was a top contender in British Formula Three from 1993 through 1996. Also in 1996 he was part of the factory Oldsmobile Aurora team in IMSA GT1 and as a driver took one pole, three fastest race laps and three podiums in only 5 races. He has also competed successfully in NASCAR's craftsman truck series and was a race leading Indy Lights driver before moving on to the ALMS GT ranks in 1999. As a factory BMW North American driver Brian scored two wins and three podiums on his way to Championship runner up. In 2000 he repeated as the highest scoring BMW driver by finishing 7th in the championship while collecting two podiums and 7 top 5 finishes. Again in 2001 Brian added to his top finishes by placing third at the Grand Am series finally in Daytona Beach once again as one of BMW's top drivers.

In 2002 Brian joined the Porsche ranks and tacked on 6 top 5 finishes including one win, one second, and three thirds in only 6 starts. In the 2003 season Brian raced in twelve Grand Am events for the Marcus Motorsports BMW winning the inaugural grand prix, as well as setting the race lap record, at the new Barber Motorsports park in Birmingham in addition to 6 other podium positions. He finished the 2003 Rolex Grand Am season as championship runner up and was second overall at the Thunderhill 25 hour race in California. Brian is the ultimate team player and has shown strength and speed in all forms of racing routinely posting faster times than his teammates including; Marc Gene, Hans Stuck, Boris Said, Bill Auberlen and Nic Jonsson.
